Space

Our new topic this half term is Space! We have been learning about lots of new things such as the planets, stars, the moon and sun.

We have a special spacestation in school where astronaughts take the rocket to the moon. We also created our own rockets to fly to the moon. We took our telescopes along to look at the stars... heres what we have seen...

Guy Fawkes

Reception celebrated bonfire night last weekend! We read the Guy Fawkes story to understand why we celebrate the 5th of November. This rhyme helps us remember the date:

Remember remember the fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.

I see no reason why gunpowder, treason

Should ever be forgot...

We created a large scale picture using brightly coloured paint and black paper to look like the night sky.

Displays

The topic this term is 'All about me' we have been learning lots about all of our new friends in our class.

Here is our class tree, it shows everybody in our class! To make the leaves on the tree we have been practising our cutting skills.

Do you like our displays?

Rainbow Fish

We have been reading 'The Rainbow Fish' this week. The story helps us to remember to share and be kind to our friends. To create the scales we took turns when using the resources and worked together.

We made our very own Rainbow Fish to put up in the class. Do you like it?

Phonics

Thank you for attending our reading meetings this week. We hope you found it interesting and useful. To help you practice the sounds at home, check out the phonics video below. We have been practicising this song in school to introduce all the sounds to the children so get them to sing along!

Golden Rules

In reception we have been learning our golden rules to help us do the right thing.

Our golden rules are:

1. We share when we are playing.

2. We listen to each other and take turns to talk.

3. We are kind and caring to each other.

4. We take care of our resources.

5. We walk safely around the school.

Encourage us to follow these rules, not only in school but at home also.

Blog rules

Our Golden Rules also apply when we are using our blog. These "extra" rules are worth keeping in mind, even when using the blog at home:

  • Don’t give out your address or phone number or any personal details.

  • Only use your first name.

  • Don’t put pictures of yourself or others on the blog.

  • Use appropriate language.

  • Try your best with spelling, but it doesn’t have to be totally perfect.

  • Don’t be rude or horrible about anyone or anyone’s work.

  • Use two stars and a wish to make a comment on how someone can make a piece of work better. It’s good to have nice things written about our work.

  • Respect other people’s opinions.

  • Everyone is welcome to contribute to the Blog.

  • Remember that you’ve got to be a friend to have a friend. Go and visit other schools to see what they’re up to (as well as ours).
